¡°One of my greatest ambitions is to build as many schools and help as many people as possible during my lifetime. Recalling one of the late winter many years ago, a friend of mine invited me to a school in the mountainous western district for inspection. After travelling on a SUV for more than four hours of journey along the uneven mountain treks, we finally arrived at the school, hidden away in the valleys of the mountain.¡±
¡°The school building was made of wood, too old to be described by any words. Most of the window glasses were broken, and cardboards were used to cover the window sills. At a distance, I saw a dirty messy hair young girl with something appeared to be white bandage on her face. It turned out that she had chilblains but had no money to see a doctor, so she stuck a piece of paper onto her small face. The little girl lived alone with her grandpa and their total possessions are merely two straw houses and one coffin, of which the grandpa reserved it for his own burial.¡±
¡°I was told that people live a very poor life there. Man can't afford to get married. Even if he were to buy a wife with all his properties, she will eventually run away after giving birth, as it is too poor to live on. The man has to go on to find a job outside his hometown, leaving his family without any trace of news from them till he return home years later. There are about two hundred people living around there, but only one child is lucky enough to have a mother staying by her side.¡±
¡°The wages of the school teachers was only a meager 300 yuan ( ¡Ý to US$45 ) a month, teaching several hundred children, who either lives nearby or faraway. It was barely sustainable for the school to carry on. To distinguish whether the student is from a rich or a poor family, one just needs to look at the amount of oil found in the pickles in their lunch boxes.¡± told by the seventy-year old headmaster.¡±
¡°From then on, I would empty my pocket to help those poor children, encouraging them with all kinds of comforting words I can think of. Whenever I¡¯m face to face with them, I know that the children are staring at me with their curious big eyes, I would smile with my eyes to let them know that life is beautiful, that life is full of happiness and that life is full of hope.¡±
¡°There was another unforgettable occasion that I went to Tibet and Qinghai in 2003. I met people who were living in such poverty that they are living day-to-day, no money to send children to school nor visit the doctor when they are seriously ill, and even to the extent of having no clothes shoes! Many children died because their parents had no money to cure their illnesses or due to malnutrition. I was shockingly depressed by the devastating poverty. ¡°
¡°When I came back from Qinghai, I made up my mind that for as long as I live, I will donate one thousand ¡°Hope Primary Schools¡± in my lifetime. I know that many children are waiting for my help. I hope that one thousand schools are enough for them. I hope that all children can be happy forever.¡±
¡°From time to time, upon returning home after a hard day¡¯s work in the city, I would flipped through my photo albums, going through pictures taken of those poor children and my eyes will be immediately swelled with tears, nose and throat being blocked and I would remained silently speechless for a long while. Once, my friend commented that I was too emotional but I told him ¨C ¡°Wealth, Power, Health & Life¡What is the most precious thing in your life? Life without love is too mournful!¡±
¡°I strongly believe that one should not live only for oneself, but also to be able to contribute to the society as well. Therefore, one should use one¡¯s earnings to help the people in need. I¡¯m determined that I shall do my utmost best to donate more money to help out the schools and children!¡±
